Japanese Dramas You Need to Watch on Netflix Right Now!

I was supposed to be in Japan last February, but then the pandemic came and poof! No more Japan for me for now. So to pass this unfortunate thing going on and to somehow kill the boredom, I checked out some doramas that are available at Netflix. And seriously, lots of them are underrated and are deserving to be watched. Here are a few doramas I definitely recommend to everyone in no particular order:

Legal V Ex-Lawyer Shoko Takanashi
Rigaru V: Gen Bengoshi: Takanashi Shoko (2018)
TV Asahi

Starring Ryoko Yonekura (Doctor X) now plays the titular character Shoko Takanashi, a former lawyer who was disbarred due to an incident with a case assigned to her in her previous firm.

This was the first legal drama I've ever watched and it got me hooked!

Doctor X - Surgeon Michiko Daimon
Seasons 1 - 6 plus 1 Special (2012 - 2019)
TV Asahi

I'm not really fan of medical dramas (hate seeing lots of blood) but Doctor X is an exception. In this drama, Ryoko Yonekura plays Michiko Daimon, a tough and confident freelance surgeon. She hates organizations and hospital politics, and only cares about saving people's lives through her excellent surgery skills. This dorama has six seasons in it (i'm now in Season 6!) and every episodes has good stories and a dose of laughs and some tears. Definitely a must binge-watch dorama!

Ossan's Love (2018)
TV Asahi

If you are into BL, this drama is for you. Ossan's Love stars Kei Tanaka as Soichi Haruta, a 33 year old single guy who works as a real estate agent who's life changed when his boss and his colleague confessed their love for him.

A really funny and entertaining hit drama with good actors, the two lead characters Soichi and Ryota (played by Kento Hayashi) definitely has a good chemistry.

He Who Can't Marry
Kekkon Dekinai Otoko (Season 1 - 2006) /
Kekkon Mada Dekinai Otoko (Season 2 - 2019)
Fuji TV

I have watched the first season a few years ago and I was not expecting a sequel will be released 13 years after! And he is still not married!

This absolutely funny dorama stars Hiroshi Abe as Keisuke Kuwano, a talented architect in his 40s, who is somewhat cynical and has a strong sense of pride, causing awkward relationships with people he meet.

But I do like Keisuke's honesty and sincerity towards people even if most people misinterpret his actions.
